An opportunity to celebrate and learn about local food production while having lots of fun.
These days we hear a lot in the news about global warming, the 100-mile diet, and the importance of quality sustainable food. Many of us are no longer aware of the origins of the food we eat. A new generation of people are learning the enjoyment of eating vegetables grown in their own gardens. Here in Chilliwack we are lucky to have 828 farms producing such things as dairy products, poultry, vegetables, fruit and berries, floriculture and nurseries.
The Chilliwack Fair is a family event – bring the kids to see the animals and the petting zoo, milk a goat and watch sheep shearing. Build a craft and ride the rides. You can also see a black smith shop, a saw mill and a threshing bee. Watch the logging show and the rodeo.
